Cleveland National Forest was established on July 1, 1908, by President Theodore Roosevelt and named after President Grover Cleveland. The forest consists of three regions: Trabuco Ranger District, Palomar Ranger District, and Descanso Ranger District.
It is home to world-renowned observatories such as San Diego State University's Mount Laguna Observatory and Caltech's Palomar Observatory.
