INTERNATIONAL DARK-SKY PARK DESIGNATION

Big Ambitions, Big Project: Cleveland National Forest

We are currently partnering with the Cleveland National Forest and the International Dark-Sky Association to work on an International Dark-Sky Park designation for the Descanso Ranger District, an area of the Cleveland National Forest in San Diego, California.

More On Cleveland National Forest

Cleveland National Forest was established on July 1, 1908, by President Theodore Roosevelt and named after President Grover Cleveland. The forest consists of three regions: Trabuco Ranger District, Palomar Ranger District, and Descanso Ranger District. 


The Forest is also home to world-renowned observatories like the San Diego State University's Mount Laguna Observatory and Caltech's Palomar Observatory.
